Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, President and Founder of Maryam Abacha American University, has paid a condolence visit to the family of late former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.

Professor Gwarzo, one of the early sympathizers who publicly mourned Buhari’s death following the announcement from a London clinic, reiterated his deep sorrow during the visit.

He offered prayers for the repose of the former President’s soul, praying that Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

While speaking with the family, Professor Gwarzo described the late President as a towering figure in Nigeria’s history.

“President Muhammadu Buhari was a man of principle, a patriot who gave his entire life to the service of Nigeria. Whether in uniform or in civilian clothes, his love for this country never wavered. I feel personally pained by his death, but I pray that Allah grants him Aljannah and gives the family the strength to bear this great loss,” Professor Gwarzo said.

Yusuf Buhari, son of the late President, who received the professor and his delegation, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family. He thanked Professor Gwarzo for the visit, the prayers, and for the solidarity shown during this difficult time.

The condolence visit adds to the wave of national mourning as tributes continue to pour in for the late Buhari, a former military ruler and two-term civilian president whose legacy of anti-corruption, nationalism, and leadership continues to spark reflection across Nigeria and beyond.

Professor Gwarzo is widely known for his contributions to education in Africa.

He is the founder of Maryam Abacha American University in both Kano and Maradi (Niger Republic), Franco-British International University in Kaduna, and Canadian International University in Abuja. His work in education has earned him several national and international recognitions.
