The Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has received a courtesy visit from the Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), a key stakeholder dedicated to ensuring accountability and quality within Nigeria’s Hajj and Umrah industry.

The visit, led by IHR’s National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, provided a valuable opportunity for a constructive exchange of ideas aimed at enhancing future Hajj operations.

The Chairman appreciated IHR’s ongoing engagement and positive recognition of NAHCON’s leadership. By seeking his audience, IHR reaffirmed its trust in the Commission’s ability to uphold high standards of pilgrims’ welfare and operational excellence.

During the discussions, IHR expressed its desire for NAHCON to fully harness the current momentum toward a successful 2025 Hajj season. While acknowledging that ongoing challenges may exist, the group commended NAHCON’s resolve to move forward swiftly and decisively.

The NAHCON Chairman informed IHR that the Commission has already begun implementing a forward-looking approach, which involves strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing internal processes, and reinforcing collaboration with state pilgrims’ welfare boards, licensed tour operators, and other key stakeholders.

Professor Usman assured the visiting team that NAHCON remains committed to working tirelessly to align with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s guidelines and deadlines for the 2025 Hajj.

He affirmed that the Commission has embarked on an accelerated schedule to meet all critical timelines, despite previous setbacks that have hindered its plans.

“We value the Independent Hajj Reporters as partners in progress,” the Chairman noted. “Your insights reinforce our commitment to refining operations and ensuring that we not only meet but exceed the expectations of Nigerian pilgrims.”

With NAHCON’s support, IHR is keen on advancing robust capacity-building programs, including specialized media workshops in partnership with Hajj training institutes.

These programs will help standardize and enhance the dissemination of accurate, timely information, thereby empowering pilgrims and service providers alike.
