The newly approved Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja will commence it’s academic session in 2024.

The founder, a university entrepreneur, Professor Abubakar Adamu Gwarzo confirmed the development during a media tour of the education facility by PRNigeria editorial crew.

The National Universities Commission, NUC had issued operating license to Canadian University of Nigeria, Abuja and Franco-British International University, Kaduna after the Federal Executive Council on May 15 approved the establishment of the universities which are privately owned by Prof. Adamu Gwarzo.

The licenses were presented to the proprietor of the universities in June during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the NUC in Abuja.

Prof Gwazo, who doubles as the founder of Maryam Abacha American Universities of Nigeria and Niger-Maradi assured that with the number of quality, world-class universities being established across the country, in the next two decades, most Nigerians will be interested in studying at home.

He said the zeal to promote quality education in Nigeria motivated him to invest heavily to establish the Maryam Abacha American University in Kano, Franco-British International University in Kaduna and Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja.

“As you can see, we have proved it in Kano with the establishment of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, with standard structures, quality teachers and necessary accreditation.

If you look at the increased number of quality private universities, you will agree with me that the future of education is very bright in Nigeria. So, I’m assuring you that, in the next 20 years, most Nigerians will not go to other countries in search of quality education,” Gwarzo said.

He added that the newly established Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja will start admitting students in September 2024, with already approved courses from the National University Commission (NUC) listed under Health Sciences to include Physiotherapy, Public Health, Medical Laboratory and Nursing.

He said the School of Computing has Cyber Security, Information Technology, Data Science and Computer Science as the accredited courses.

In the Management Science and Social Science Faculties, he mentioned Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Human Resource Management and Mass Communication as the accredited courses.

The foremost edupreneur said his ultimate goal in life is to give quality education to at least one million Nigerians.

According to Gwarzo, his tertiary institutions are aimed at expanding his educational vision to reach more people and make quality and affordable education accessible to all Nigerians.

“I want to educate one million Nigerians before I depart from this world,” he said.

“Quality education requires quality infrastructure and qualified teachers. Because education is the key to bringing about positive change in any giving society.

“I have seen how quality education has led to the development of countries like France, Germany, and the United States, which has enabled them to produce quality engineers, accountants, among others,” he said.

During the facility tour, the Editor-in-Chief of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, Mallam Yushau Shuaib expressed delight with the facilities at the site for office buildings, classrooms, library, e-library, auditorium, football pitch, sports arena, staff quarters and some other giant facilities.
