The Nigerian Ministry of education has denied issuing accreditation pass to one Aboubakar Ibrahim University, Maradi, Niger republic.
The Education support services department, evaluation and accreditation division of the ministry has said an earlier document circulated by the university which was forwarded to them was forged and fake.
Reacting to a letter by the Zamfara state youth Association of Nigeria which seeks to know the authenticity of the accreditation status as contained in the circulated letter, the Education Support Division denied issuing such letter, saying it is forged and fake and called on people to disregard it
In the ‘fake’ letter dated February 25, signed by one Godwin G Egpunojo on behalf the ministry, and seen by ACADEMICS DAILY reads,
“I am directed to refer to your letter date 29th January, 2021 on the above subject and to confirm the ministries earlier letter
FME/S/174/C.2/A/557 dated 7th December, 2020 that Aboubacar lbrahim International University of Niger Maradi, Republic of Niger is on the ministries list of accredited university based on the Niger ministerial order
No. 00194/MESRI/sG/DGE/DL/DES/DESAPRI dated 7t December 2020 deliberate by the ministry of foreign affairs, cooperation, African integration and Nigerians of the Diaspora, Niamey to the ministry of foreign affairs

2. Subsequently, the federal ministry of education and the national universities commission (NUC) has resolve the issues surrounding the accreditation status of Aboubacar lbrahim International University, Marad Niger Republic.

Meanwhile, the ministry denied issuing such a letter to the institution as claimed.
According the letter of reply by the ministry dated 14 September, the said letter was ‘forged and fake’
” That the letter in follo 2 Ref. FME/S/174/C.2/A/557 dated 25th February, 2021 purported to have emanated from Evaluation &Accreditation Division of Education Support Services Department of the Ministry is forged.
” The ES Division never did such a letter and no staff bears the name “Godwin C Egbunoio and the signature on the letter has no parallel to any staff signature in the Division. In addition the letterhead, content of the letter, name/signature were all forged and should be discountenanced. ”

However, the in a video posted on the official Facebook page of the Institution the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university Dr Muhammad Lawali Abubakar said ” The university was set up to cater for the education demand of the people of Maradi, Niger and other parts of the world. This Institution teaches in three languages including French, Arabic and English.” Abubakar said.
