The Vice-Chancellor, Bayero University Kano (BUK), Prof. Sagir Abbas, has commended the Federal Government for its road intervention projects in tertiary institutions nationwide.
The Director of Press and Public Relations Unit, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (FMWH) Mrs Boade Akinola, disclosed this on Tuesday, in a statement in Abuja.
Abbas, who led the university’s management team on a courtesy visit to the ministry, expressed appreciation for the road intervention projects and street lights in his institution.
He described the intervention at BUK as critical to the institution, as it provided a conducive atmosphere for learning in the University thereby boosting the morale of the students and staff in the institution.
In his response, the Permanent Secretary FMWH, Mr Babangida Hussaini, who received the delegation appreciated the team for the accolades showered on the Ministry.
He noted that the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide infrastructure in every sector of the country provided the much-needed motivation for the ministry to discharge its mandate judiciously.
Hussaini also stated that the Minister of Works and Housing had a passion for ensuring the fulfilment of Buhari’s commitment to providing infrastructure in all sectors, nationwide.
Other members of the delegation from the university were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Mahmoud Umar Sani, acting Registrar; Jamila Salim, and Director Liaison Office Abuja; Ibrahim Yakasai.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the FMWH had so far completed and delivered 29 out of 47 road projects being executed in various tertiary institutions nationwide. (NAN)
