Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, has called on the Federal Government to name a university in the Northwest zone after the late elder statesman and renowned philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.<\/p>\n
The appeal, made on Wednesday, is part of efforts to immortalize Dantata\u2019s immense contributions to education and national development.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to immortalize the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata by naming a university in the region after him in view of his contributions to the education sector in particular,\u201d Prof. Gwarzo said.<\/p>\n
Prof. Gwarzo emphasized that Dantata\u2019s legacy deserves permanent recognition that would inspire future generations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is only through such gestures that his philanthropic legacy in the education sector would continue to be remembered forever as well as inspire many others and yet unborn,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He described Dantata\u2019s impact as extraordinary, citing years of support to institutions and students through donations, infrastructure development, and scholarships.<\/p>\n
\u201cDantata invested heavily in education\u2014donated funds and buildings to various institutions. Through Dantata Foundation and other initiatives, he sponsored scholarships for underprivileged students, and he was the first Chancellor of Al-Qalam University, Katsina,\u201d Prof. Gwarzo stated.<\/p>\n
He noted that naming a university after Dantata would be a symbolic and lasting tribute to a man whose generosity shaped lives across Nigeria and the West African region.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, immortalizing the late elder Statesman will be highly welcome and appreciated by all those who benefitted from his philanthropic gesture and many others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
