Yobe State University, Damaturu, on Thursday matriculated 2,532 students into various programmes for the 2020\/2021 academic session.<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the matriculation is the 13th of its kind since the inception of the institution in 2006.<\/p>\n
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Mala Daura, charged the new intake students to take their studies seriously.<\/p>\n
He said that over 10,000 candidates applied for admission into the institution through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE), adding that only 3,290 of them were admitted.<\/p>\n
Daura said the 2,532 students matriculated after completing their registration.<\/p>\n
The university, he said, began academic activities with 980 students in 2006, adding that the total students’ population stood at 9,610.<\/p>\n
He commended the state government for its support to the institution.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the Registrar of the University, Dr Kalli Gazali, urged the matriculants to abide by the rules and regulations of the University.<\/p>\n
