The Morgan State University in the United States and Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) have jointly celebrated the enduring legacy of Maryam Sani Abacha, marking her 79th birthday with a virtual event that spotlighted her decades of service and advocacy for women\u2019s empowerment.<\/p>\n
The event, held on March 8, 2026, brought together scholars, community leaders, and students from across the globe to reflect on her contributions to education, healthcare, and social development across sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n
Speakers at the forum praised the former First Lady for her longstanding commitment to humanitarian work and initiatives that have advanced the welfare of women and underserved communities.<\/p>\n
The panel featured notable academics and professionals including Vivian Adeyemi, Hauwa Wambai Aminu, Oluwatobi Oni-Olusola, Habib Awais, Ahmed Maigari Ibrahim, Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, Zahra Adam and Ganiyat Adesina-Uthman.<\/p>\n
