Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has hosted a three-day International Conference on Language Technology in Nigeria as part of an effort to enhance language teaching and learning processes.<\/p>\n
The conference, organized by the university\u2019s General English Unit, was attended by language researchers, lecturers, teachers, students, and practitioners passionate about using technology in education.<\/p>\n
During the three-day, participants shared best practices, knowledge from fields such as Applied Linguistics, Educational Technology, and Digital Literacy.<\/p>\n
The event created a supportive space for individuals and researchers interested in exploring how technology can enhance language learning in today\u2019s fast-changing world.<\/p>\n
The conference, themed \u201cTechnological Innovation for Language Teaching and Learning,\u201d was held at the Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin theatre.<\/p>\n
In his welcome speech, MAAUN President Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr emphasized that the conference, which gathered leading experts in language technology, showed the university\u2019s dedication to innovation, research, and academic excellence.<\/p>\n
He also praised the General English Unit, especially the efforts of Mr. Kabir Abdullahi and his team in organizing the event.<\/p>\n
Mr. Abdulkabir Abdullahi, Chair of the Local Organizing Committee, explained the purpose of the conference and the benefits for participants.<\/p>\n
He urged the participants to make the most of the opportunity by harnessing the power of language technology to drive innovation.<\/p>\n
No fewer than 25 presenters from various higher education institutions across the country, including Dr Sabina Brokoniecka from University of Warsaw, Poland, shared their research during the conference.<\/p>\n
One presenter, Lami Mukolu Musa, a lecturer at Abdulkadir Kure University in Minna, Niger State, highlighted that technology is transforming language education by increasing student engagement, motivation, and performance.<\/p>\n
She pointed out that technology enables personalized learning and provides instant feedback, leading to more interactive, efficient, and inclusive learning environments.<\/p>\n
The conference featured practical sessions on phonics and phonemic awareness, language tech apps for teachers, publishing apps, and more, which helped teachers develop literacy skills and adapt to new communication formats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
