Film academy trains 31 youths in Kwara Training

Sugar Factory Film Studio has trained 31 youths in Kwara on special courses related to entertainment and acting.

The two-day training which is aimed at developing creative potential of the youths ended on Monday at the Sugar Factory Studio in Ilorin.

The Managing Director of the Sugar Factory Film Studio, Mr Gbenga Titiloye, disclosed that the 31 youths have concluded their training in film making, script writing and production management, among others.

”The rest include acting, make-up, equipment management, cinematography, content creation, costume, and other essential courses,” he said.

Titiloye said the free training programme was to test run and showcase the studio’s capacity to develop and generate income for the state through the academy and film making.

He added that the academy has succeeded in securing affiliation with three prominent Canadian institutions to strengthen the credibility of certificates awarded by the school.

The Managing Director assured that the various young participants whose choice was films making have taken a wise decision and toed the right path.

”This is because the industry is not just viable but a veritable means of making personal income and also increase states’ internally-generated revenue.

“We appreciate Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for the initiative of establishing the Sugar Factory film studio. He has always prioritised youths in all his policies as you can see.

“This is just the beginning of a new thing in Kwara. The academy will continue to do training for the youths for them to fulfill their dream,” he said.

One of the Conveners of the training, Mr Adeolu Adenuga, said the Sugar Factory film studio was becoming a giant academy and would produce great people in the future.

He said the training was just a start and more big opportunities would come for the youths in the academy.

The General Manager of the Academy and also a convener, Mrs Grace Babasola, said the training was a deliberate plan to test-run the training potentials of the Sugar Factory Film Academy.

She said the intention was to make the world aware that one of the biggest film studios exist in Kwara.

The participants, after their training session, were conducted round the facilities and were excited to explore the opportunities.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that certificates were presented to the sponsors, facilitators and participants after the training.

NAN also reports that among the facilitators included Grace Babasola, Chirmeka Osa, Dr Taylor Adenuga, Adeolu Adenuga, Niyi Raphael, John Adewara, Anabel Edo, Demola Yusuf, Samson Olarunde and Tunde Ayinla.
