The President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has offered a Post Graduate scholarship opportunities to lecturers of Elrazi Medical University, Kano as part of efforts to promote academic collaboration and institutional development.
Prof. Gwarzo made the offer when he led a MAAUN team on a courtesy visit to Elrazi Medical University.
The delegation was received by the university management, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof.
Prof. Yarube Isyaku Umar
During the visit, Prof. Gwarzo expressed readiness to partner and support Elrazi University in areas where it requires additional expertise.
He said MAAUN, with more than 15 000 students across its various institutions and programmes, was ready to support and mentor Elrazi.
Prof Gwarzo said the mentorship would cover academic development, research, innovation, quality assurance and internationalisation.
The Eduprenuer also invited Elrazi University to join the Association of African Private Universities, AAPU and the MAAUN’s research arm, the Institute of Africa Higher Education, Research and Innovation .
Prof. Gwarzo also commended Elrazi for establishing the university on what he described as a good foundation.
He advised the institution to sustain efforts to improve its academic standards through training, workshops, conferences and other professional development programmes.
After a lengthy discussion on internationalization of education, Prof. Gwarzo further advised the university to pursue competitive research grants and focus on research that addresses societal challenges.
Responding, the management of Elrazi Medical University expressed appreciation to Prof. Gwarzo and the MAAUN delegation for the visit and the opportunities offered.
The University Librarian expressed interest in collaborating with MAAUN on research, conferences, colloquia and other academic activities.
The management also sought MAAUN’s support in strengthening its admission processes and quality assurance.
Specifically, Elrazi requested MAAUN’s quality assurance team to conduct a pre-assessment of its facilities ahead of its accreditation exercise.
The assessment, it said, would help identify areas requiring improvem ent and ensure compliance with academic and infrastructural standards.
The visit ended with a tour of Elrazi University’s facilities including their library, laboratories, hostels and lecture rooms.
